Longevity

American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standards for vinyl fencing was first required at 8% TiO2, or 8 parts per hundred. In the last decade, the Federal Government has increased this amount for manufacturers to a minimum of 10% TiO2. There are several manufacturers in the United States that voluntarily use a higher TiO2 content level (12%) for maximum protection against the outside elements, including temperature and weather. Superior Universal Vinyl is a vinyl fence manufacturer located in San Bernardino, California, that uses 13% TiO2, more than any other vinyl fence manufacturer at this time. These increased levels of TiO2 have resulted in reputable vinyl fence manufacturers increasing their product warranties to 30 years, lifetime and even double lifetime warranties! A standard cedar or redwood wood fence is expected to last around 12 -15 years. It is believed that when using a high quality vinyl like the Superior Universal Vinyl product, compared to a standard wood fence, you will replace your wood fence 4 times before considering replacing your vinyl fence for the first time.  This can be interpreted that a vinyl fence will cost at least 4 times LESS than a wood fence over the life of the vinyl fence.
